The non-enforcement letter from DOE did not delay the May 1 effective date and, as such, could have still been enforced by states, building inspectors, etc.  The ‘Motion for Stay’, has eliminated these scenarios from occurring for the next six months.  This delays a final decision on this issue until oral arguments are heard by the Court.

A tax credit can provide significant savings. It reduces the amount of income tax you have to pay. Unlike a deduction, which reduces the amount of income subject to tax, a tax credit directly reduces the tax itself. 

The federal tax credit for qualified Fujitsu equipment is 10% of the amount paid but shall not exceed $300 for the qualified energy property. There is a lifetime limit of $500 for this credit, meaning if a homeowner has previously claimed the credit (up to $500), they are not eligible to claim it on their 2012 and 2013 tax returns. As every taxpayer’s situation is different, please consult a tax advisor for the actual credit.

To claim your tax credit, you will need to submit this form. IRS Form 5695

Please fill out the Measure Drawing and Measure Template forms, making sure to note which opening is the return, and which opening is the supply.  And remember, your existing curb may not exactly match this configuration, but as long as you fill this sheet completely CDI figure out the rest. You can also download the Measuring Tips to help you get started.

CDI requires the following information for a curb verification:

• Outside dimensions of the curb DO NOT MEASURE THE RTU
• Return and supply sizes. Also label the Return and Supply on the drawing.
• Locations of the return and supply from the outside of the curb
• Brand name and model # of the existing RTU

Remember:

• CDI over sizes YOUR dimensions 1-1/2″, so please supply actual field dimensions
• It is better to make a curb adapter 2″ too large than 2″ too small
• You can never supply CDI with too much information. Some other information that is helpful is any object that may be in the way such as: walls, pipes, other units, skylights, equipment rails, etc.
